Starting out at Merrill Lynch, Mike has over 30 years of experience at all levels within the financial services industry with the most recent 15 years working at the executive level with major life insurance and annuity focused carriers. Before co-founding InsurAware™, Mike founded and currently operates a global consulting business focused on helping carriers, distributors, and intermediaries increase revenue and grow sales by optimizing existing distribution, expanding into new markets, and bringing digital distribution solutions to their overall strategy.
The main impetus behind the founding of InsurAware™ was to help advisors engage with clients to provide risk transfer solutions to ready buyers. 100 million adult consumers in the United States have no insurance and two-thirds would purchase insurance. Those statistics haven’t changed in 15 years, largely because most individuals don’t wake up every day thinking, “today is the day I am going to buy insurance.” And too many financial advisors don’t wake up thinking, “today is the day I am going to sell insurance”. There is an awareness and accessibility gap within the insurance industry that has, over the years, created generational poverty with tragic consequences.
Co-founding a start-up is very challenging but also very much rewarding. The long days are divided into creative planning sessions and analytical problem-solving keeping the days fun, exciting, and unpredictable. The most rewarding element of the job is the privilege of working with a team of highly motivated, passionate, and experienced professionals focused on a very noble cause.
